Mauro joined PepsiCo in 2012 and, in his role as Chief Design Officer, he has infused design thinking into PepsiCo’s corporate culture and has transformed its approach to innovation through design that impacts the company’s product platforms and brands.
These include Pepsi, Lay’s, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, Sodastream, Doritos, Lifewtr, bubly, Aquafina, Cheetos, Quaker, 7Up, Mirinda, among many others. Mauro's focus extends from physical to virtual expressions of the brands, including product, packaging, events, advertising, fashion and art collaborations, retail activation, architecture and digital media. He leads teams based in 15 cities in every continent of the world. He and his design team have been recognized with more than 1,500 design and innovation awards. He has also received many personal awards, including Fortune’s "40 under 40", GQ Italia’s "30 Best Dressed Men” and Fast Company’s "50 Most Influential Designers" in the United States. In 2018, the President of the Italian Republic recognized him with one of his proudest achievements, the Knighthood (Cavaliere). In 2021 his first book was published, in Italian: “L’età dell’eccellenza”. His first book in English, “The Human Side of Innovation” will be published this October. Mauro lives in New York City.
