She created This Book is a Camera (MoMA)—which transforms into a working camera—and This Book is a Planetarium (Chronicle)—which houses paper devices (including a planetarium) and has sold more than 100,000 copies. Alphabet in Motion, an interactive book about typography and technology was published to wide acclaim in 2025. The Washington Post book editor writes that “the work of literature that delighted me most this year is this pop-up book.” Other projects include a viral paper record player and—with The Yes Men—a utopian counterfeited New York Times, which won the Ars Electronica Prix. Doctors without Borders have used the award-winning Tinybop Human Body app she illustrated to communicate illness and treatment nonverbally to their patients in remote areas. Clients include NPR, the New Yorker, the Guggenheim, MoMA, Apple and the New York Times. She has been nominated for the Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian National Design Award twice and teaches at NYU, SVA and Cooper Union.

He has published nine books, including How Design Makes The World, The Myths of Innovation, Confessions of a Public Speaker and The Year Without Pants. After graduating, Jennifer worked at design studios focusing primarily on branding projects. In 2013, she began working on interior typesetting, which naturally evolved into full cover and interior book design. After several years freelancing, she joined Penguin Random House Canada in 2016, where she currently works as a senior book designer.

Having been in the industry for over a decade, Jennifer has designed covers and interiors across almost every genre imaginable. She has worked on covers for many prominent Canadian authors, including Michael Ondaatje, Anne Michaels, Michael Redhill and Madeleine Thien.

She works primarily with cultural clients, with a strong focus on typography. Her clients include Kunsthalle Zu Kiel, Museum for Communication Berlin, Phaidon, Washington Post and Wired. Ariane is also the creative director and co-editor of Fukt, a magazine for contemporary drawing. Her work has received numerous awards, including from TDC New York and Tokyo, D&AD, Graphis and ADC New York and Germany, and has been widely published in international design publications. She is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).
