Patterns, script and other traditional motifs have layers of symbolism, histories and hidden narratives which continue to be more than just marks on a surface.
Join Mustaali, whose design and art practice is geared towards reinterpreting these motifs, to explore how symbols get exchanged and integrated into new societies in different ways, and how their origins get blurred over time.
In this interactive workshop, we’ll discuss how symbols and icons evolve. We’ll consider what different users grasp of their original meanings and how they fit into the current context of society. These are among the questions we’ll explore while examining themes drawn from architecture, patterns, history and nature.
