10 emerging designers attend DesignThinkers Vancouver free

With the support of our sponsors, the RGD has awarded 10 cash scholarships and free registration to emerging designers to attend DesignThinkers Vancouver this May 13-14.

Student RGDs and Associate RGDs were invited to submit a 30-second to 1-minute video expressing their enthusiasm for DesignThinkers Vancouver and why they wished to attend the conference.

Each of our sponsors selected a winner and provided $500 to help cover costs to attend.

Student RGDs, Provisional RGDs and Junior Affiliates are invited to apply to win free attendance to DesignThinkers Vancouver. 10 scholarship packages are available, each including a free ticket and $500 cash to help cover the costs to attend.

To apply, submit a 30-second to 1-minute video expressing your enthusiasm for DesignThinkers Vancouver and why you want to attend.

Assessment

Applicants will be assessed on their creativity and passion. Priority will be given to Members who reside 100 km or more away from the location of the conference.

You must be a current Student RGD, Provisional RGD or Junior Affiliate Member to be eligible.

Seven emerging designers win scholarships to DesignThinkers Toronto

With the support of our sponsors, the RGD is awarding seven scholarships to emerging designers to attend DesignThinkers Toronto this November 2–3.

Student RGDs, Junior Affiliates and Provisional RGDs were invited to post work in response to the prompt, “The Future of Design.” They were also asked to submit written responses outlining why they would like to attend the conference.

Nine #heyRGD winners will receive scholarships to DesignThinkers Toronto

Student RGDs, Junior Affiliates and Provisional RGDs are invited to post their branding and packaging work on Instagram for the chance to win a scholarship to DesignThinkers Toronto.

 

$500 scholarships will be provided by industry sponsors Brightworks, Bruce Mau Design, Compass Creative, Davis, Fusion Design Group, Jacknife, Pound & Grain and Ove Brand Design (two scholarships). The scholarships will cover the winners’ expenses to attend the conference.

How to enter

  1. Set your Instagram profile to public. Then, pick a piece of your branding or packaging work. It can be old work, new work or old work you’ve already posted.⁠
  2. Hashtag it with #HeyRGD and #HeyRGDTO by editing your post or adding it to the caption/comments. You must use both hashtags.⁠
  3. To increase your chances of winning, provide a brief explanation of your design choices and how they achieve the project’s goals.⁠
  4. The deadline to submit is September 30, 2022.

 

Winners will be selected by a Judge from each sponsoring company. Winners will be chosen based on the strength of their work and explanation of their choices and process.

Six #HeyRGD Winners will receive $500 Scholarships to attend DTVan 2022

This year the #heyRGD is all about being bold, having the confidence to share your work and winning prizes! The RGD Student Committee has exciting things planned for 2022 starting with this challenge where winners will be awarded a scholarship to attend DesignThinkers Vancouver.

Student RGDsProvisional RGDs and Junior Affiliate Members are invited to post their work for the prompt ‘Typography’ on Instagram between now and the end of March. Use the hashtags #heyRGD AND #heyRGDVan for an opportunity to win cash scholarships!

With support from Will CreativePound & GrainPS&Co.RethinkHangar18 and 123w, the RGD will award 6 Scholarships of $500 to be used by the winners to attend DesignThinkers 2022 VAN taking place at the Vancouver Playhouse on May 31–June 1.

In its second year, the #heyRGD challenge is an RGD Student Committee initiative created to help emerging designers promote their work and connect with industry professionals. To participate, submit old work, something new or even old work that’s been posted already (just edit it to have the hashtags #heyRGD and #heyRGDVan, and make sure your work exemplifies the prompt). Remember your profile must public to be eligible.

The RGD’s 23rd annual DesignThinkers Conference will take place at Vancouver Playhouse in-person, for the first time in almost 3 years. Canada’s largest graphic design conference, DesignThinkers attendees will get an opportunity to network with prospective employers and attend talks by industry leaders including Bráulio Amado, Founder of BAD Studio, Brian Collins, Chief Creative Officer at COLLINS; Creative Business Consultant Emily Cohen, illustrator Tom Froese and others.

The #heyRGD challenge with DesignThinkers Toronto Scholarships will launch in August/September.
