The Shape of Type to Come: The Collective Creation of a Typographic Magazine

Dominic Ayre RGD

OCT 01 • 1:45 - 2:30 PM

Meridian Hall — Rehearsal Hall

In this high‑energy, hands‑on workshop, we’ll hack paper, tape tape, get gluey, stick stickers and manipulate everyday found objects into a living, breathing magazine—conceived, designed and unleashed in just one hour.

You’ll break, rip and smear textures into strange new shapes of type you didn’t know existed. Every oddball composition becomes part of a collective publication assembled in real time. Pages will be taped, scanned and mashed together into a bold black‑and‑white zine—our raw snapshot of typographic chaos in this exact moment. The result? Within 24 hours you’ll be holding the finished, printed artifact in your hands: a mutant magazine buzzing with overlapping voices and gloriously imperfect experiments. Come ready to improvise, collide and laugh as you help invent The Shape of Type to Come—a one‑day future where letters misbehave and you’re the one molding them into their purest, unfiltered form.
