Design for Stories

Nadia Tzuo

OCT 02 • 3:45 - 4:30 PM

Meridian Hall — Main Stage

Movie titles serve as the bookends of a story.

They can tell you what a film will be about or they can be unfamiliar and confusing, only making sense at the end. Sometimes they can serve as an index if the story needs some type of prologue; or they can be something completely abstract evoking the tone and mood. In this session, Emmy Award-winning motion designer and director Nadia Tzuo shares the creative process behind her award-winning title designs for series like The Last of Us and Shōgun and shows how visual identity, narrative and emotion intersect in the world of title design.
