Massimo Vignelli studied architecture in Milan and Venice.
In 1960 he and his wife Leila opened a professional
office for architecture and design in Milan. In 1965
they moved to New York to work on identity programs
for Ford, American Airlines and Knoll. In 1971 they
founded Vignelli Associates designing everything from
identities to books, signage to interiors, products
to clothing. Clients included Bloomingdale’s,
Xerox, Ducati Motor and Benetton. Their works are in
the collections of the MOMA, the Metropolitan Museum
and the Cooper-Hewitt. Massimo has taught and lectured
on design across the US and internationally. For the
past 10 years, he has taught at Harvard’s School
of Design.
